Friends of King's House
The Association of the Friends of King's House is the parents' association here at King's House and acts as a social and fundraising body whose aim is to provide a meeting point for parents and friends and arrange social events, which helps to bind our school community together and help give the children a sense that their school life is important and involves the whole family. We of course help raise money, to assist in providing equipment and other facilities to the school. In addition, we also use some of the funds raised to support local charities.
In October we will also be hosting the Autumn Quiz Night. The money we have raised has been used for various projects around the school. As an example, during the 09/10 year we helped the School install a wonderful new all weather Astroturf playing surface and play area, at both the Senior and Junior Department. This high tech playing surface allows the boys to play rugby and football (just to name a few), without having the usual injuries associated with synthetic surfaces. Furthermore, we are now working towards helping the school fund various music projects including: buying musical instruments, introducing lessons and investing in music technology, covering both the junior and senior school. Finally, we are hoping to buy our own set of cricket nets for the boys to use at the new King’s House School Sports Ground, instead of having to borrow the Old Deer Park nets.
The Friends Association is run by a Committee of parents and teachers and at the moment comprises 12 parent members and 2 teachers, including our head Mr Turner and Mrs Trundley. Each year in October several members of the Committee finish their 3-year tenure on the Committee and so we are always interested to hear from people who might be interested in joining the committee. You would be involved in organising and running fundraising activities for the Friends Committee and could take on a specific role on the Committee, including: Chairing the Committee, Treasury, Secretary, Catering, Bar Co-Ordination, Web-site management, Merchandise and Form Rep liaison. You would be happy to attend a maximum of 2 to 3 evening meetings a term as well as being able to help out at events and provide input on how funds raised are spent.
