King’s House School offers three major sports - rugby, football and cricket - which take place at the King’s House School Sports Ground in Chiswick. Cross-country, athletics, basketball, tennis and golf are also on offer. In recent years the school has enjoyed considerable sporting success particularly with its senior rugby teams. We run plenty of teams for each age group to give as many boys as possible the opportunity to experience competitive fixtures.We have a fully equipped gym and Astroturf which enables us to provide plenty of variety for the weekly PE sessions. In addition, all boys from Reception to Year 5 go swimming once a week.
In the holidays, a variety of clubs use our grounds to provide activities for boys and girls of all ages and there have been successful rugby and cricket tours to both South Africa and Antigua.
The Arts
King’s House School prides itself in a strong tradition of excellence in the Arts. We recognise that by giving our children the opportunity to express themselves outside the classroom we are helping to develop self-confidence and awareness.All pupils have a lesson of music per week. In addition up to 70% of them learn an instrument at school. For singers, there are Junior Department and Senior Department choirs as well as the BBK’s (our Year 4 Blues group). In the Senior Department we have an orchestra, a wind ensemble, a brass group and a superb jazz band. Boys are encouraged to play in school assemblies and get the opportunity to perform in local community events.
With a large, fully equipped theatre we can be ambitious in our choice of production. There are regular productions in each department. All the boys get an opportunity to take part and workshops help develop their interests.
Art, Design and Technology are central to the creative arts teaching in the school. In Design and Technology the emphasis is on project work and in Art the boys are encouraged to express themselves using a variety of media with work being displayed all around the school and in the weekly Newsletter.
