Kings House School Arts

Arts

King's House prides itself in a strong tradition of excellence in the arts. We recognise that , by giving our pupils the opportunity to express themselves outside the classroom we are helping to develop self confidence and awareness.

All boys at King's House have a lesson of class music each week. In addition up to 70% of pupils learn an instrument at school. For singers there are Junior and Senior department choirs and the BBK's (our Year 4 Blues group) regularly perform for their parents and their friends. In the senior department we have an orchestra, a wind ensemble, a sax group, a brass group and a superb jazz band. Boys perform in assemblies, at concerts and at local community events.

With a large, fully equipped theatre, we can be ambitious in our choice of production. All the boys get the chance to take part on stage and visits and workshops help to further develop their interests.

Art and Design Technology are taught to all boys throughout the school. In Design Technology the emphasis is on project work and in Art boys are encouraged to express themselves using a variety of mediums. Work is displayed around the school and is regularly updated to give each boy a chance to enjoy having his work admired.
