Kings House School Eco Schools Award

Eco Schools Award

2010 heralds our second year of taking part in this nationwide scheme, to raise awareness and learn how to respond thoughtfully to how we impact our environment.

We are very proud to have been awarded a Bronze and Silver Certificate in recognition of the school's efforts to lead sustainable lifestyle.

We are working towards our next award - the prestigious Green Flag Award, which symbolises excellence in the field of environmental activity.

We have an Action Team, otherwise known as the Eco Team who meet once a month. They have carried out an Environmental Review, a survey to assess the school's current standard of sustainable practice. Using this, the pupils created an Action Plan and chose projects that could improve the school environment, be fun to do and to meet our targets too!

The team organised the ‘Switch Off' Fortnight campaign (2nd-13th February 2009), which focused on conserving energy and proved a real success involving the whole school.

We look forward to a new year, a new team and we will be on the look out for new projects. Watch this space for the monthly newsletters to keep up to date with our plans.
