Design Technology
Year 8 - D&T Project
Year 8 have spent the autumn term constructing clocks, based entirely on their own designs. The brief was to design a clock, personalised for themselves or someone they know. They could choose a theme, and as you can see by the variety, they did exactly that!
The material used was acrylic sheet which comes in a wide range of colours. They transferred the shapes of the coloured layers on to the acrylic, and using jig saws, and hand saws, cut them out accurately. They then spent a long time filing and polishing to get a professional finish. After drilling the hole to take the hands they were complete, and a very impressive sight they are.
Year 6 - D&T Project
Year 6 were given the task to design and make a vehicle powered by a small battery powered motor. They all created the same frame and circuit to slightly different dimensions, depending on the type of vehicle they had designed. At that point they translated their design drawings into nets which were mounted on the frames. The test was that the vehicle would go straight and true across the floor. As you can see there were a great variety of ideas!
